The Artisan 4.8L runs on a 300W direct-drive motor with a planetary action. Ten speeds from a slow stir that won't throw flour to a fast whisk that whips cream in under a minute. The tilt-head opens fully so you can scrape the bowl or swap the paddle one-handed.
What we did to it
Stripped the head, cleaned out the old grease, repacked the gearbox with food-grade lubricant, replaced the worm gear if it showed pitting. Retensioned the planetary drive. Cleaned and re-oiled the motor shaft. Polished the paint where we could; left it where polishing would have made it look wrong.
Then forty-eight hours on the bench. Kneaded a full-batch bread dough, whipped double cream to stiff peaks, creamed butter and sugar for a sponge. If any stage felt off, the mixer went back on the bench until it didn't.

Will my old attachments fit? Anything KitchenAid-branded that fits a tilt-head 4.8L will fit an Artisan. The attachment hub on the front will take any KitchenAid-compatible attachment — meat grinder, pasta roller, ice-cream bowl, etc.
Does it come with a PAT test certificate? Yes. Every unit is PAT-tested before dispatch. The certificate is emailed with your order confirmation.
